Summary: | In the past few years, there has been much greater adoption of technology in every facets of our life. Examples include automating service helplines, RoboAdvisors in stock markets, self-driving cars, facial recognition for identification, internet banking and management, and many more. Furthermore, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, humans now rely much more on technology, both hardware and software, to further optimize and automate processes remotely. However, the rise in use and reliance on technology may seem daunting for many people. For Singapore to transition to a fully smart nation, technology advances and changes should be a common occurrence that people should get used to. Hence, there ought to be a change in the perspective of how one perceives technology, from something that is difficult and complex to one that is reproducible and easily understood. This project aims to design and develop a robot that is low cost, showcases a few latest technologies being used and how it works in its most simplified form. The focus is on self-driving car, with the rationale being the rise of Electric Vehicles (EVs) adoption in the world. The Singapore government has committed to promoting the use of clean energy and EV fits into the plan very naturally. Thus, the project hopes to achieve the goal of showcasing the technology that could drive the future of EV and how it works. |
