Description
Summary:This report is a summary of Ying Ying’s final year project (FYP) that was done from August 2020 to May 2021. The title of the project is “High Efficiency Perovskite Solar Cells”. A perovskite solar cell is a type of solar cell that uses of perovskite-structured compound as the light-harvesting active layer. It is commonly found with a hybrid organic-inorganic lead or tin halide-based materials. Researchers has found ways to increase the efficiency of these cells throughout the years. It has become commercially attractive due to the low production costs and its ability to achieve higher efficiencies as compared to Si solar cells. This project consists of the comparison of the efficiency Si solar cells and Perovskite solar cells using a simulation program called SCAPS-1D. It includes research about Si solar cells, perovskite solar cells and the comparison between the two types of solar cells. In addition, the report contains numerical experimentation with SCAPS-1D to discover the best perovskite solar cell settings to obtain the highest efficiency possible.
