Description
Summary:In this final year report, the creation of a web application that provides insights to a particular chosen dataset is discussed in depth. This web application aims to present a time series analysis as well as various graphical representations based of the selected dataset. As the Coronavirus continues to impact on people’s day to day life, it is vital that these data are analysed. Using COVID-19 as a time series dataset for this data visualisation system, this report will investigate various trends and patterns for further analysis in the current developing situation. The development of this data visualisation system will involve two key components: Data Analysis and Data Visualisation. Firstly, this report will look into the analysis of the time series dataset by examining and cleaning the data provided. Methods for preparing data for data visualisation will be outlined. Following that, the time series analysis will be presented in a web application framework and the findings will be discussed extensively. This leads to the exploration of various data graphical representations to be implemented in the web application. Besides, filtering capabilities will be embedded into the web application to enhance user experience. Lastly, future exploration of data visualisation is discussed as the developed data visualisation system is bound to have limitations. Since data and technology are constantly evolving, there will be predictions on how the data visualisation will look in the near future.
