Description
Summary:This report investigates the feasibility of applying Battery-Based Energy Storage Transportation (BEST) through railway transportation into Security-Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC). This model performs an optimal solution for minimizing the cost of power system operation by providing the suggested location and hourly charging/discharging schedule. This project uses Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) as a model and computes the optimal solution when all operational constraints are met. This integrated model is tested in the modified IEEE 14-bus system with three railway station and the IEEE 30-bus system with three railway station. The results show that this model reduced the overall operation cost significantly and transmission congestion compared to the system without the BEST.
