Design of a smart LED lighting control unit

In this project, a smart lighting system is designed and constructed to reduce energy consumption. The light dependent resistor (LDR) is used to control the brightness of the LED while the passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor is used such that the light automatically switches on and off itself...

The light dependent resistor (LDR) is used to control the brightness of the LED while the passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor is used such that the light automatically switches on and off itself to reduce energy wastage. Additional features are introduced to increase the convenience brought to users. One example would be an alert system connected to a timer to notify users when the time is up. A colour changing feature is also introduced to potentially improve the users’ mood. Finally, a smartphone application is created to allow users to control the lighting system wirelessly. This final year project (FYP) report covers what has been accomplished and how it is achieved. The project outline, detailed description of the lighting system and mobile application, conclusion and recommendation for future work will be included in this report.
