Description
Summary:The magnetic gear technology is used to develop a fast-responding bidirectional actuator prototype to transmit torque between an input shaft and bidirectional output gears without mechanical contacts. This allows the prototype to achieve 2 outputs with different directions from a single input by varying the position of the magnetic gears. The objective of this project is to improve the device and integrate it into the potential applications as the previous prototype was only able to demonstrate the working principle but was not designed with the application in mind. This report describes the research, design, and fabrication of the fast-responding bidirectional actuator prototype as well as guiding principles for further testing for better integration into the relevant industries.
