Summary: | Introduced in 2014, the Smart Nation initiative comprises national strategic policies that harness data and information communications technology (ICT) as solutions for complex policy issues. This includes incorporating smart living technology (SLT) into HDB estates all across the island, to provide a comfortable and convenient home living environment for all Singaporeans. The case of Singapore is especially unique due to our public housing policies. Therefore, with the pervasiveness of such technologies in our daily lives, it is crucial to understand the public’s perception and attitudes to measure what the public wants and deliver desirable policy outcomes. As such, this paper is an exploratory study on young Singaporean undergraduates to understand their perception towards SLT in homes. Policy recommendations will also be proposed to alleviate public concerns and drive the adoption of SLT. |
