新加坡华人的公民身份认同 ：以南洋理工大学学生为研究对象 = Singaporean Chinese citizenship and identity : a case study on Nanyang Technological University students

本论文将从社会研究的角度，探讨“公民身份”的概念，以及新加坡华人的公民身份认同。本文主要论述的三个重点：（一）论述“公民身份”这个概念，新加坡公民身份的形成，以及人口流动趋势。（二）国家建构与公民的关系，探讨国家政策对公民身份认同的影响和所扮演的角色。另外，通过观察网络世界，讨论新媒体作为公民参与的新形式。公民透过博客、网上论坛和其他互动媒体讨论时事，如何增进对公民身份认同。公民身份在全球化的语境之下所面对的变化和挑战，如“双重公民身份”的出现。（三） 透过研究在籍南洋理工大学生为的公民身份认同的问卷调查，对公民身份认同的现象进行初步分析。问卷从不同层面，索取受访者对自己的公民身份、社会和政府的看法。调查发现，大部分受访者对新加坡有归属感和对他们的公民身份感到骄傲，虽然将近一半的受访者有移民的意愿。From the sociological perspective, this paper explores the concept of “Citizenship” and the views of Singaporean Chinese of their identity. This paper focuses on three main points: (1) Discussion on the concept of “Citizenship”, the formation of Singapore citizenship, and the trend of population movement. (2) The relationship between the nation-building policy and the sense of identity of the people, how the government’s policies affect the “Citizenship Identity” of Singaporeans. Furthermore, through observation of the cyber world, the paper investigates how the new media as an uprising form of civil participation, engage the people through blogging, online forums and various other interactive media, thereby leading and allowing them into discussion of national issues. It examines how this helps promote identity. This paper also raises the challenges and issues faced by “Citizenship” under the effects of globalization, such as the evolvement of “Dual-Citizenship”. (3) Lastly, a survey was carried out to determine the perception of the NTU undergraduates on their “Citizenship”. This was done through by enquiring their opinions on how they view their Citizenship status, the society and the Singapore government. From my findings, most of the respondents in general feel a sense of belonging to Singapore and they are proud of their citizenship, even though almost half of them indicated their intentions to migrate in future.
