Summary: | This project focuses on the study of the Duffing chaotic system with an added fractional derivative. The aim of the project is to study the transition between non-chaotic and chaotic behaviour of the Duffing system and evaluate the possibility of applying the Duffing chaotic system in image encryption. Modelling of the Duffing system and simulations of image encryption are performed using MATLAB. Subsequently, Poincare maps, phase plots and displacement-time plots are obtained to analyse and optimize the chaotic behaviour of the system. Upon establishment of the chaotic system, a number sequence is generated from the chaotic response of the system and applied to image encryption via a shift cipher. Finally, a visual and statistical correlation analysis between the original and encrypted images are performed to test the effectiveness of the encryption algorithm. A correlation value close to zero will mean that the encryption algorithm has successfully masked the plain image. |
