Description
Summary:This study is devoted to the investigation of fluid flow in a hollow microneedle at different geometrical parameters. The parameters chosen for this study are the height and diameter of the fluid channel in the microneedle. A total of 25 cases were generated from the parameters and they were modelled using SolidWorks 2020. The fluid flow in the microneedles were simulated using ANSYS 2021 software. Fluid flow properties were obtained from these simulations and compared with existing papers. One of these papers compares the fluid flow properties to the pain associated with microneedle drug delivery. The results from this study gave insights on the impact the geometrical parameters have on the fluid flow properties of the microneedle. With the obtained information, the study recommends choosing the sizing of microneedles that has fluid flow properties values not too low or high, relating to the pain factor discussed in the literature review.
