This thesis is to examine the effectiveness of VARTEL class from different aspects including Situational Interest, Self-efficacy, affordance and continuous learning intention. The students’ responses will be further analysed and interpreted to find out the impact on affordance of VARTEL class, Continuous Learning Intention and Academic Achievement for individual student. The research methodologies will be classified into two approaches: Quantitative and Qualitative approach. The quantitative approach will be administrated by collecting questionnaire responses from students. The Qualitative approach will be in-class observation and post class focus-group interview. By considering both quantitative and qualitative approach, it concludes that VARTEL did trigger and maintain individual’s situational interest. It helps to increase the Self-efficacy, continuous learning intention and eventually the academic achievement for individual students. It also concludes that VARTEL has pedagogical affordances of a) immersive learning; b) collaborative learning; c) interactive learning in educational aspects.
