Description
Summary:e-Government initiatives have been playing a crucial role in combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore. Despite this, these is a lack of comprehensive literature examining citizens’ awareness, behaviours, and concerns with regards to these e-government initiatives. This paper hence examines the Singapore citizens’ engagement in these e-government initiatives, as well as some of the factors that influence their participation. Having surveyed 218 respondents from Singapore, this study finds that the presence of the digital divide and individual’s varying trust levels with the Singapore government are factors that determine one’s engagement in e- government initiatives. Analysis of the findings also suggested that current strategies to close the digital divide may not be sufficiently effective. Overall, this paper provides an understanding of Singaporeans’ awareness, preferences, and behaviours with regards to e-government initiatives combating COVID-19, including data privacy concerns and public opinions on the TraceTogether saga.
