Description
Summary:Though the RFID technology has been developed for many years since the late 1960s, its range of applications has been restricted because of the relatively high cost to implement a useful RFID system within an organization setup. However, with this cost decreasing, many industries have implemented RFID into their operations and benefited from using RFID technology. This project will advance the use of RFID technology in the supply chain management process of small and medium enterprises. The cost of a RFID implementation has been decreasing in recent years, but it is still relatively expensive to have RFID tags on every product at unit level. This has deterred the use of RFID technology in the supply chain process of most corporations. Thus, an EPCglobal organization was formed to create the EPC standards to enable corporations to turn the data that can be collected from their RFID systems, into business insights that are valuable to the business process and competitiveness.
