史可扬是新加坡华文文学中难得一见的人才，他能写能编能导，所涉猎的文体种类众多。从戏剧到小说、散文、杂文、电影剧本等创作不胜枚举，是新加坡文坛20、30年来十分活跃的人物，亦是集编导演于一身的剧作家，为新加坡戏剧的发展做出了重要的贡献。 史可扬的第一部剧本创于1958年，最后一部剧作则写于1984年。在这50年代末至80年代初的时段，新加坡面临着许多社会问题，其中包括了他剧作中所涵盖的两大文学主题，即“底层庶民”及“知识分子”。 本文将把重点放在史可扬笔下所塑造的知识分子之形象上，并从其剧本中的人物窥探该时代知识分子所面临的遭遇，从而揭露与批判当时社会的黑暗。 关键词：新华文学 新加坡戏剧 剧作家 史可扬 50至80年代 知识分子 Shi Ke Yang, a rare talent in Singapore Chinese Literature. Other than being a famous writer, he is also an accomplished scriptwriter and director. Acting as an active figure in Singapore literary world for 20 to 30 years, his work varies from dramas to novels, proses, essays and movie etcetera. It is to be said that he has made an important contribution to the development of Singapore theatre and its history. Shi Ke Yang first play was established in 1958, and his last play was written in 1984. During this period of time from the late 1950s to the early 1980s, Singapore encountered a number of social problems, which includes the two major literary themes covered in his plays, namely “subaltern” and “intellectuals”. In this essay, we will be focusing on the image of the intellectuals portrayed by Shi Ke Yang, at the same time prying into the encounters faced by the intellectuals in this era via the characters he created in the script, thereby exposing and criticising the dark side of the society during that period of time.
