Summary:Iron oxide nanoparticles have been considered to be a good choice in the drug delivery application due to its nontoxicity and good biocompatibility. Iron oxide nanoparticles were covered with chitosan to prevent being absorbed by human body before reaching the targeted area. Nanocomposites, Iron oxide-chitosan/zinc oxide, were produced by mixing FexO-chitosan with ZnO-Co or ZnO-Co-Z60. Zinc oxide nanoparticle was used to track the iron oxide nanoparticles in the human body due to its photoluminescence property. The zeta potential, size, and size distribution of the nanocomposite particles were investigated by using zetasizer. The particle morphology and shape were analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). The elements in the particles were also studied by Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). Zeta potential and particle size were much different for different samples. Zinc oxide nanoparticles were approved to be existed on the iron oxide particle after mixing.
