Description
Summary:Dementia refers to a syndrome that causes a decline in cognitive functions such as thinking, memory, and reasoning abilities which affects a person's daily life. There are over 55 million people in the world suffering from dementia in 2020 and it is estimated to be almost doubled every 20 years with an estimated number of 139 million people in 2050. Currently, there is no available cure for dementia, however, there are treatments available. One example of such treatments includes Person-centred care which is to give personalized care to the patient through getting to know the patient through interpersonal interaction and focusing on their specific needs. Research has shown that technology has been hardly used to assist healthcare professionals in taking care of dementia patients. However, the usage of technological innovations can aid dementia patients to have better care and cope better as well as easing the burden of the healthcare professionals who are looking after them. An application for Person-Centred Care of Dementia Patients (PEAR) was created to provide a centralized platform for healthcare professionals to provide more efficient treatment and care to the patient. Hence, the objective of this project is to maintain and improve the PEAR backend system. This includes continuing the migration of the PEAR system from ASP.NET MVC5 to ASP.NET CORE. The PEAR backend system follows the Repository Service Pattern and uses various technologies such as Cloudinary, Microsoft SQL Database, Firebase Cloud Messaging, etc.
