Summary: | Augmented Reality (AR) is a trending technology worldwide that is already involved in many industries and is still expanding to involve many others.
AR provides an immersive and interactive experience that blurs the line between the real world and imagination with added visual and auditory components. It changes our perception of reality where we can visualize things that would be usually impractical to see. AR allows the user to experience instead of just watching. Currently, in Singapore, the major news stations are not utilizing AR. However, other countries have already adopted AR to aid in their news reporting.
Through this project, the primary focus is to create an Android application to explore the involvement of AR within traditional news reporting for an accessible yet appealing storytelling experience for the user. The application would allow for multiple users to utilize an AR room by adding virtual objects into the environment through the device’s camera. This would help enhance the viewer’s experience, as virtual information can be added together with TV news reporting.
After the completion of this project, it may allow for a better understanding of how AR and traditional TV hosted news reporting can work hand in hand for a more captivating way of storytelling. |
