Description
Summary:Solvothermal syntheses of copper indium diselenide/Poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) heterojunction quantum dot were carried out. Preliminary results showed that P3HT may impede the growth of nanoparticles copper indium diselenide. Further experimentations were therefore performed first without the addition of P3HT to ensure the synthesis of the quantum dot with correct stoichiometry. Characterizations of the product were done using SEM, EDX, TEM and UV-VIS NIR spectroscopy. HR-TEM confirmed the presence of copper indium diselenide with the correct lattice parameter. Further TEM images revealed irregular shaped nanoparticles. EDX also reaffirmed the correct stoichiometry, however only for spot analysis and not for area analysis. Having obtained the correct amount of precursor for the right stoichiometry, further syntheses were carried out with a very low amount of P3HT. The result shown that irregular shape nanoparticles were formed, however, the stoichimetry of the products were not correct.
