Summary:Previous studies suggested that daphnia is in fact a sensitive and a reliable biomarker. A slight change in the water chemistry will result in a change in their characteristic behavior. Different contaminant or stimulus will cause them to react differently. In this study, we tested how they react with different salinity, pH level, fertilizer and algae. We use hopping frequency, number of turns, rest time, swim time and swim speed to determine their characteristic behavior. Indeed, it reinforce other studies that daphnia is a sensitive and reliable biomarker that change in a specific way for certain stimulus.
