Summary: | Armed with the medium-format camera as her meditation tool, Jasmine Sng's series of photographs reflect her solitary journey to the less populated areas in Singapore. The quietness of these places bring about a sense of tranquilty, invoking a calm sense of mind in the photographer. This series seek to evoke the audience to spend some time with themselves, and also to appreciate the beauty of the simplest forms in nature.
The images are shown as a set of three or four similar to the forming of a landscape, or shown individually. These images seem the same, but are not the same. They provide the audience with a feeling of the “before and after”, where the transitions are but natural rise and reduction processes. When the set of images are viewed in succession, they convey a sense of time in motion or perpetual change. The spaces between each image in a set further represent the progression of time and the fleeting changes in the landscape.
Hence, the photographer hopes that through this series of photographs, the audience is able to enjoy the solitary pleasures in nature and also to rouse their imaginations to the perpetual change in beautiful nature alterations. |
