| Summary: | This research study would look at the ability of television programmes to aid and assist preschoolers in developing their language skills. Specifically, the attempt would be to look at television as having beneficial effects and that it could be more than just a convenient 'baby sitter'. Childhood is short. As much as parents needed to consider how much of their child's time would be worth devoting to the small screen, it would be worth the while to consider the depth the child would receive if the programmes watched would be beneficial and not a waste of time. With the pervasive nature of television, reducing the role that television played in the lives of children would be a difficult task indeed. Television is here to stay; babysitter, children's programmes or not. |
