Influence of partner effect, dissimilarity and illusion in interpersonal perceptions on interpersonal trust and relationship mindset.

Current study investigated the self and partner’s perceptions of romantic couples regarding the relationship commitment and explored the connection between these perceptions and two relationship-related constructs: interpersonal trust and relationship mindset. Longitudinal data were collected from 104 undergraduate couples in a Canadian university and analysis was performed by multilevel modeling. In addition, the measures for dissimilarity (the difference between couple’s commitment level) and relationship illusion (the difference between one’s perceived commitment of partner and partner self-perceived commitment) were derived and their impact on interpersonal trust and relationship mindset were explored.
