Summary: | There are multiple forms of communications, which involves verbal and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication requires people to speak to convey information, while non-verbal communication uses body language (which includes hand movements, facial expressions, eye contact, etc) to do so.
Facial expressions have been shown to be an important component for teachers to check if students understood what was being taught. By analysing students’ facial expressions, teachers will be able to make appropriate changes to their teaching styles to improve the lesson experience. However, it can be difficult for teachers to observe every single student’s face while teaching at the same time.
Therefore, this project aspires to aid teachers to analyse facial expressions of students by capturing their faces from CCTV or webcam. A desktop application will be deployed to capture students’ faces from webcam, while the analysis of the facial expressions will be displayed on a mobile application. |
