As a result, lesser attention has been given to the immigrant experience in their host countries. This paper examined the PR experience in Singapore’s education system and whether or not the system had been helpful to their integration into the country. With education generally viewed as a levelling or equalising institution, the eighteen participants in the study were interviewed on their integration in Singapore. The findings elucidate that education in Singapore had been adequately helpful in integrating the participants into their community, but its policies are not far- reaching enough to resolve disintegrative tendencies. The place of school also provided natural opportunities for interaction to occur, which built a foundation for integration in the future. This study aims to lay the foundation to explore deeper how various aspects of education can provide tools for the integration between immigrant and citizen.
