Description
Summary:This report presents a small-scale urban traffic simulation model that was based on Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus. In this project, PTV VISSIM has been selected as the simulation software used. It is the world’s most advanced and flexible traffic simulation software for microscopic, mesoscopic traffic and transportation simulation and is the global world leader in this industry. The software relay on different parameters such as driving behaviour and time interval to simulate a road network in an urban environment. To better simulate real-world traffic conditions, VISSIM uses dynamic assignment to calculate the traffic flow of the whole simulation randomly instead of using static assignment. The key benefit of the simulation is that it can provide an insight into the benefits of deploying the autonomous environmental service vehicles (AESVs) in a road network. In this way, it is possible to maximize the efficiency of the network without having to physically deploy the AESVs. Throughout the report, the steps taken to build the simulation model will be detailed and the end result will be presented at the end of the report.
