Description
Summary:Lifelong learning has grown in popularity in recent years. The online learning platform is preferred because it provides the flexibility and convenience of accessing a variety of course options. However, the majority of the online learning platforms sometimes overlook the community development feature among students and alumni. Because of the short duration of the courses, students don't have enough time to form relationships with others. Moreover, alumni who have completed the course have no desire or drive to return to the platform and contribute back to the community. This relationship needs to be strengthened and preserved because research has shown that student collaboration and interaction have a strong relationship to student accomplishment and satisfaction. This project aims to address this problem by developing a web-based platform that offers mini-courses with the gamification approach to motivate students to be more active and engage with each other. This platform also provides other features such as a community forum, portfolio site, and student tutoring. The platform focuses more on computer networking courses as a real-life scenario. Thus, real course content is developed for this platform.
