Summary: | Herein, methods to improve the performance and safety of an organic reversible electrochemical mirror (REM) device for real world applications is investigated. REM devices reversibly switch between transparent and mirror states. However, there are many challenges such as uniformity for large area device, safety issues, cycling performance and memory effect performance. In this study, we report various methods to tackle the challenges of uniformity and safety issues. Conductive lines are introduced to improve the current density distribution and various polymers and their polymerization are investigated to reduce the risk of leakage and flammability. Gel and solid polymer electrolytes are achieved, and the resultant REM’s Cyclic voltammetry, reflectance and transmittance are studied. |
