A high performance linear electric motor for light weight traffic application
In today’s world, the number of users for e-commerce had shot up due to the Covid 19 pandemic and there is a need to have a high performance and high energy saving conveyor belt to keep up with the demand of the general public with both quickness and effectiveness. By using a linear electric motor,...

Lee School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering chtlee@ntu.edu.sg Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering::Electric apparatus and materials In today’s world, the number of users for e-commerce had shot up due to the Covid 19 pandemic and there is a need to have a high performance and high energy saving conveyor belt to keep up with the demand of the general public with both quickness and effectiveness. By using a linear electric motor, it can solve both issues simultaneously while having a high-performance motor. This research work will be presenting a 2D model of suggested linear electric motors for conveyor belts in e-commerce warehouses. It will show the comparability of performance with the development process between FSPM, FRPM, and Vernier PM motor. The aim of this dissertation project is to analyze which motor characteristics are able to provide the best materials, design, force density, force ripple, and efficiency of the motor. The simulation will be conducted in JMAG software, and the simulation will be done under both on-load and no-load conditions. Furthermore, the motors will be adjusted to a similar configuration to one another to compare which motor has the best performance without having a larger size motor.
