Summary: | Many analysts, strategists, and fund managers have been employed by the financial sector with one goal in mind: to outperform the market. The role of these analysts is to examine and identify undervalued stocks, while strategists forecast market and sector direction. Fund managers are to consolidate this information from their analysts and strategists and actively manage their client’s portfolios to yield more than market returns. When it comes to approaching the markets, fundamental and technical analysis are two primary schools of thought that are on different sides of the spectrum. A fundamental analyst believes that examining a company's strategy, management, product, financial statistics, and other measurable data can aid in the selection of stocks that will outperform the market. Whereas according to a technical analyst, the study of charts, volume, momentum, and a myriad of technical indicators are the keys to greater portfolio performance.
In this thesis, we will use fundamental and technical analysis to come up with sound investment strategies in order to navigate Singapore’s property stock market through the COVID-19 global outbreak. We will also analyse how news affects the share price of property stocks in Singapore throughout the five-year period of 2017-2022. |
