Description
Summary:Data collection is crucial in almost every experiment. The data collected, upon processing, can be extremely useful to arrive at results and conclusions for the experiment. Today, in a data rich world, data is collected and generated constantly for the purpose of innovation. Especially with the prevalence of Machine Learning applications, large amounts of data are often required to train a model with high confidence and accuracy. To collect such volumes of data, automated systems are often employed, not only to reduce physical labour, but also to improve efficiency and aid in collecting these data. This paper presents the design and build of a low-cost Arduino robot car running on DC motors for the purpose of tree root data collection using GPR antennas and a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The aim of this project is to successfully automate the current manual data collection process. The robot car is programmed using Matlab to follow the intended line of path for data collection autonomously in steps of 3cm, while collecting readings.
