One of the many ways to address this issue is the adoption of sustainable waste management practices, such as recycling. Singapore, despite having a reputation for being clean and green, is still lacking in recycling ethos. Described as a waste “endemic”, the country has been facing low recycling rates over the past few years [1]. In line with the proactive attempts of environmental activists to improve Singapore’s poor recycling performance, this project aims to build an all-in-one mobile application platform that encourages people to recycle and stay active in their recycling efforts. The main feature of ‘Recycle Right’ will be its points reward system which incentivises users by rewarding them with every milestone achieved. Other useful features like maps and a news portal will also be implemented as they are essential tools to get Singaporeans started on recycling. The implementation of this mobile app is done with Flutter for the frontend and Firebase for the backend.
