Description
Summary:Textile-liquid interactions have been a focus of research in the textile industry for many years. How water interacts and behaves on textiles can differ greatly depending on many factors and parameters of the textile. In this project, how thread width and pore areas of textiles could affect the wetting behaviour of the textile is observed and analyzed. Experiments were conducted by dropping a drop of water onto various types of fabrics and a camera was used to record the spreading process. Processing will be done on the recordings to obtain the spreading shape, area, and speed. The data obtained will be used to determine the effect of thread width and pore area on the wetting behaviours of fabrics. In addition, a second experiment to measure the spreading speed of the respective threads will be conducted to find its relation to the thread width as well as to the spreading speed of the fabric. Future possible work has also been included at the end of the paper to allow further exploration and understanding of the topic.
