People from different backgrounds bond over hawker food in the Hawker Centre. Over the years, this unique combination of various food reflects the macroscope of Singapore’s multicultural society. Today, there are more than 110 Hawker Centres across the island. An additional 13 Hawker Centres will be developed by 2027. [1] Although the number of Hawkers Centres is growing throughout the years, yet there is no platform that consolidates all the information of these Hawker Centres. An idea of making an app with the aim to provide hawker information service to the foodies, especially foreigners, has come out. Some foreigners may feel struggle to explore the Hawker Centres as the operation hours are not the same as a shopping mall. All the stalls have their own respective operation hours. This Android app name “Wak Wak Hawker” included the hawker operating hours, location information and users can save the favorite Hawker Centres. "Wak Wak" means to "walk around" in Singlish. Wak Wak Hawker was coined to mean that users to walk around Hawker Centres and get excited with the help of this app. It is hoped that there will be greater appreciation and recognition for our hawker culture. Let us come together to appreciate, and safeguard Singapore's Hawker Culture.
