Most owners usually install smart locks at their main door not knowing that burglars are still able to access their home from alternative ways such as the windows, backdoors, etc. Therefore when the only barrier, the locks at the main door, is being broken down there is no way of alerting owners of an break in and nobody would know what is going on inside the house. This project aims to design and develop a Home Security System which could be easily installed in any home using the Raspberry Pi 4 Model. The system will allow users to have peace of mind when leaving their homes at a cheaper cost as compared to most systems currently available in the market. The system can be activated via the system’s control panel using facial recognition or entering the system passcode. Once activated, using object detection methods, the system’s camera would actively look for any intruders within the home. In the event where an intruder is detected, the system would alert the user and send a picture of the intruder to the user’s mobile device for verification, before security is alerted.
