Plantae: Data Visualisation of Marchantia polymorpha is an exhibition that not only communicates the research and discovery of the abiotic stress experimentation conducted by the plant scientists from Nanyang Technological University's (NTU) School of Biological Sciences (SBS) but also portrays the reproduction system of Marchantia polymorpha. The reason for using Marchantia instead of other plants is because Marchantia lacks complex organs and has much simpler genetic circuits than other plants, making it a good candidate for plant research. Through the abiotic stress test that was conducted, the results can be used as a planting guideline because these experiments tell us which growth conditions are lethal for the plant. For example, heat >36oC will kill the plant. In addition, the exhibition will be held at the open space in SBS, to encourage crop gardening among NTU students as a way to help with household food security. The exhibition will also contribute to disseminate the results of the scientific research carried out by NTU biologists to ensure Singapore’s sustainability.
