Summary: | “Wait.” is a 2D-3D digitally animated film that explores the relationship between a single father and son (Mu Kuai and Chip) in Singapore, using the 2015 S.League Cup finals to motivate the story’s events. Being a soccer bookie in Singapore, Mu Kuai has been hiding the disreputable nature of his job from Chip in attempts to be a model parental figure. But the lines between the two are blurred as work comes up while on their way to watch the big game.
"Wait." was produced by a team of four artists, each with their own main and secondary roles to fulfil our vision. The main bulk of the animation was done primarily in a vector-based software known as ToonBoom Harmony, while the 3D modelling and lighting of the environments and props were done in Autodesk Maya as well as the 3D texturing which were done in Substance Painter. The 2D animation would be overlaid onto the 3D environments, to be composited with additional lighting and visual effects in Adobe Aftereffects. |
