The enactment of death rituals is an elaborate process built upon traditional beliefs and values. Such rituals serve more than the purpose of ensuring the deceased is properly sent off to the afterworld; For the bereaved, the performance of death rituals also provides closure for the family. 一路走好: A Safe Journey, explores the role of Chinese funeral rites in Singapore, through a visual narrative, to analyze the details of funerary practices and how they act as a means to help bereaved families cope with eventuality and grief. By uncovering these processes and meanings, it is aimed at accounting for the significance of death rituals in Singapore, giving a glimpse into what one can expect preparing a death ritual as they come into bereavement for the first time.
