Description
Summary:Living in a modern society like Singapore, everyday experiences and places are typically overlooked in favour of the extraordinary. One’s special occasions and unusual places of visits are often documented in tangible forms due to their significance and temporality. Yet ironically, it is the seemingly mundane experiences that significantly shape a person’s life – they too, are temporal yet they are the ones that are most often taken for granted. ‘The Extra-Ordinaries’ is a retrospective publication project that explores reflective nostalgia through one’s everyday places. It aims to translate the intangible experiences at the locales into a more tangible form through the assemblage of personal stories and its visual fragments. Apart from the preservation of personal memories, the project also aims to encourage others to cultivate a greater appreciation towards their day-to-day life through a sense of collective memory.
