The invisibility cloak, a virtual equipment that can render obstacles non-visible to external, has been popular around the world. It occurs to people that the unique characteristic of invisibility cloaks may be made use of in daily life. Over the past years, scientists have shown a strong interest in invisibility cloaks and also looked for ways to shift invisibility from the virtual world to the real world due to its big potential for concealment and detection. However, up to date, practical realization of the ideal invisibility cloak is still lacking. Most of the former cloaks make simplifications and approximations during the design process, which result in big scattering and loss. In this project, based on transformation optics, a transformation invariant approach will be explored to realize ideal invisibility cloaks, which can not only smoothly redirect electric fields around an obstacle, but also reduce the scattering and loss as much as possible.
