Description
Summary:Air Traffic Controllers have a paramount role in ensuring the safety of the airport and are expected to uphold the highest standards of performance regardless of any increase in scenario difficulty. In any crowded air traffic scenario, a fall in performance of the air traffic controller can arise due to human related errors. The adoption of an expert air traffic controller’s visual search has been proven in studies to be effective in raising the performance of air traffic controllers regardless of scenario difficulty. However, these studies conducted mainly focus on visual search strategies surrounding runways. With the rise in drone incursions over the world, efficient anomaly spotting of foreign objects in the airspace should be tackled as well. Hence, as the first phase of such a study, a portable visual tracker can be developed with the use of an eye tracker to aid in after studies of object identification and difference when performing spotting.
