Description
Summary:Flexible risers are an integral part of offshore engineering which is multipurpose in nature. It can be used to transport oil, water, gas or even power. It has been used first in 1942 and had been improved and re-established since. In the market right now, it is manufactured in two different types, bonded and non-bonded. This depends on the use and environment of the riser system. In addition, different types of configurations are designed for in different situations. These are explained and discussed further in this report. The aim of this project is to study the different types of configurations and how it performs by analyze and examine them. These can be done by using an analysis computer programme for riser system. On top of that, a proposed design will be produced and rationale behind it will be discussed. The characteristics of riser’s behavior that is being looked into are only tension, bending moment and the reaction on the seabed. Also a common setting was input for an unbiased experiment. For the proposed design, an improvement of existing configuration is made to further enhance the performance of riser. In conclusion, riser configurations are designed differently to suit in the environment that they are constructed in. However more can be done to improve and achieve a more efficiently designed riser configuration.
