One of the popular trends is customer concentricity which includes the rise in demand for personal product customization at cheaper costs. Therefore, companies are shifting towards the evolution of industry 4.0 to enhance and optimize productivity to meet the rapid customers’ needs. Part of the industrialization process includes the implementation of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), which have been around in the industry since the 1960s. Since then, AGVs have gained popularity and is widely seen to be used in many industries such as Warehouse Transport sector, Clinic Logistics sector, Automobile sector and many more. In this Project, the aim is to promote the use of AGVs into a labour-intensive industry which has suffered heavy losses due to manpower concerns– the Construction Sector. The main purpose of the AGVs in the construction industry is to reduce the need of manpower in the transportation process which not only helps in labour issues but also aids in improving overall productivity. This project will focus its effort on developing a new functional design called the “wheelbarrow unloading system” for the modular AGV to improve the overall usefulness in the transportation prospect. The project report contains the information on how the modular AGV is being developed to tackle the challenges faced in a construction environment. In addition, the report also covers the whole design process and the capabilities of the wheelbarrow module. Lastly, including the further studies on the wheelbarrow module for further developments and improvision.
