The mechanical design and layout were performed for the structures, supports and housing of the different building components and sub-systems of a compact EMP generation module prototype using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software SolidWorks. This project completed the mechanical design and layout of the three different prototype models/modules, including the mechanical structures, supports and housings for the overall design and installation of the electro-optical and electrical subsystems of the POC prototype EMP generation module. The project was carried out at the same time to design and develop three different building models/modules for the development of the POC prototype EMP Generation System. Part 1 focused on the mechanical layout and fabrication of the prototype EMP structure models for the alignment of the EMP driver box to develop the EMP generation modules based on the design and feedback of the NTU Team. The models were fabricated using 3D printing technology after suitable partitioning in the inhouse 3D printer. Part 2 encompassed most of this project and worked hand-in-hand with the NTU team to co-develop the final EMP generation module. The emphasis was the design and layout of the mechanical housing of the POC prototype EMP Driver Box using SolidWorks CAD tool. Lastly, Part 3 of this project involved the design of the POC prototype Control and Interface Evaluation Kit for the testing and evaluation of the electronic control and interface circuitry to be used in the EMP module developed by the NTU Team to test the overall EMP generation performance to ensure that the final EMP generation module can meet the final performance specification. The conceptual designs of three prototype model/modules had been successful completed in this project. The fabrication of EMP models/prototype modules had been done. The fabrication of the POC prototype of the EMP driver box/module were planned but the physical products of these prototypes were not received till the end of this project. This project supported the NTU Team in the product development to develop and deliver a Proof-Of-Concept (POC) prototype EMP generation module to HTX, for future integration into a transportable EMP generation system suitable for Inland Security Deployment.
Lastly, Part 3 of this project
involved the design of the POC prototype Control and Interface Evaluation Kit for the testing and evaluation of the electronic control and interface circuitry to be used in the EMP module developed by the NTU Team to test the overall EMP generation performance to ensure that the final EMP generation module can meet the final performance specification. The conceptual designs of three prototype model/modules had been successful completed in this project. The fabrication of EMP models/prototype modules had been done. The fabrication of the POC prototype of the EMP driver box/module were planned but the physical products of these prototypes were not received till the end of this project. |
