Description
Summary:The objective of this project is to investigate and study the trend of temperature time series of Singapore. The findings will serve to establish corroborative evidence if global warming has indeed significant impact on the tropical countries like Singapore. Thus, the project focuses on data collection and analysis of the mean minimum temperature of the past three decades. By adopting general statistical approach and using the Zero-Crossing Method, the writer minimise the fluctuation of the data due to the cyclic components and establish a more definitive trend of the temperature distribution. Base on the results obtained after the analysis, the writer came to the conclusion that there is indeed, an evidence of rising temperature in Singapore. The writer also evaluated the potential impacts that Singapore will face from the rising temperature trend such as increasing water consumption, increasing sea level and increasing energy consumption. Lastly, the writer proposed a number of possible mitigation measures for different impact scenarios that the authority have done or could be carried out.
