Summary: | In most digital transmission systems, the data stream is encoded by adding extra bits in order to provide protection against transmission errors. In a non-cooperative context (i.e., military or spectrum surveillance application), the information of the encoder, such as code length, code rate or encoder structure, is unknown. In this final year project, we focus on block codes because they allow for a simple visualization of the encoding process. A method proposed by G. Burel and R. Gautier has already been used to estimate the encoder structure of a block code through the analysis of the linear algebra property of the encoded data stream. Based on this method, we use Matlab in this project to simulate the blind estimation process. Moreover, the effectiveness of the method is investigated using baseband signaling techniques under different channel conditions. |
