Description
Summary:The experiment of heated circular jet simulates the flow field of fire in an enclosed compartment. The key parameters that were studied in the experiment were the velocity and temperature of the flow. For safety purpose, the heated jet uses a much lower temperature as compared to a real fire. Wire anemometry technique was used in the project for data acquisition. The experiment were carried out in three sequential phrases, with the first phase using single wire probe, second using the X-wire probe and the last using three wire probe. The results show that the mean velocity and temperature profiles had reached self-preservation almost immediately after potential core. However, higher turbulent indicator such as Reynolds normal stress and Reynolds shear stress had not reached self-preservation. The project’s decay rates for the centerline mean velocity was found to be lower than other circular jet experiment done by other researchers. This was because of the smaller Reynolds number while was used in this project.
