Description
Summary:With the increasing concern about environmental issues nowadays, the idea of clean energy has become a drive for many people to work for. There are many types of clean energy technology around but many of them required certain criteria, thus making it ineffective in general purpose. In this report, a design of perpetual magnetic motor will be explored and its feasibility and capability will be evaluated and discussed. Attraction and repulsion between unlike poles of magnets is the initial idea of the prototype design. The force between two strong magnets can be very strong and if we can make use of this force to produce kinetic energy, we will be able to generate electricity. The motion has to be perpetual which means the system must be a closed loop with feedback of energy to drive the motion again and again. This report will feature the use of induced electromotive force, electromagnetism, transformer and rotational motion of plate. After research, all the knowledge will be put to use into designing the prototype. All the calculations and estimated results will be shown on the report. Due to the budget constrain, the prototype does not consist of expensive materials which will incur high cost. However, the quality of the prototype should not be compromised. Making use of recycled items and less expensive materials to create a prototype is a challenge. Next, it will be the construction of the prototype. It is important that the construction of the prototype must follow the design closely and to prevent any mistakes, it is better to refer back to design frequently. Sometimes it is irreversible as assembled components will be very difficult or impossible to rebuild. Drawbacks of the prototype will be discussed at the assembly of prototype chapter. The most crucial stage of producing a prototype will be experimenting and evaluation. At this stage, many readings and calculations will be done. There are tables on calculations for different methods to increase the magnetic field strength of ii electromagnet. The strength of the electromagnet is directly proportional to the rotational force and this is what makes the plate to be able to continue spinning without external force. However, sometimes there will be discrepancies with what you have expected, so this stage is where a lot of thinking will be done. Various ways of improving the prototype will be discussed.
