Summary: | Transactions in the real estate industry are constrained by various factors – distance (i.e., the property being too far or inaccessible), time (i.e., potential buyers being unable to attend viewings at preferred timings) and physical (i.e., unable to modify the settings within the property to give buyers a clearer idea of how the space could be transformed into their ideal home. Taking into account these limitations, we present The Real Estate Metaverse, a new platform that seeks to overcome these barriers with the use of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). Through this application, users could freely view listed properties and tour surrounding amenities in VR. In addition, they are able to customise the property in real time and visualise the amount of sunlight in each corner of the house at different times of the day.
The platform benefits both buyers and sellers alike by increasing the efficiency in matching both parties’ interests. To support the application’s deployment to low-end devices, this project leveraged the edge and cloud render streaming infrastructure and comparing the Frames Per Second (FPS) performances. |
