Description
Summary:Economic Dispatch (ED) is a study on economical methods of distribution of power generation demands. Traditional methods of solving ED problems use centralized approaches. Lately, distributed approaches of ED problems are studying to overcome limits of centralized methods – unable to implement the Smart Grid technologies. And the Hierarchical Decentralized algorithm was proposed in 2018 to overcome communication cost problem of existing distributed methods. In this report, the Hierarchical Decentralized algorithm was built with MATLAB code and then illustrated and validated through various case studies on IEEE 30-bus and 118-bus systems. The algorithm was tested that able to handle most of the conditions but was unstable under some extreme ramp-rate limits conditions. So, an experimental algorithm was suggested to overcome this unstableness. The modified algorithm also verified through case study on IEEE 30-bus system that it can handle ramp-rate limits under varying load conditions.
