Description
Summary:Onsite renewable energy generation is one of the trends in the ongoing global energy transition. The battery energy storage system is widely acknowledged to be the solution to manage the intermittency nature of renewable energy source. This paper explores how the BESS can be deployed for an industrial building and its optimal sizing. This paper will also investigate if the capital expenditure for BESS deployment will be commercially worthwhile for an industrial building owner. The results showed that based on 2022 BESS prices, the returns of investment may not be attractive enough for building owners to adopt BESS. However, as BESS prices are predicted to drop in the near future, BESS deployment can be an investment for building owners to make full use of their onsite solar generation to reduce their electricity bills.
